BRANDON YANCEY, BOARD PRESIDENT
Brandon Yancey OTD, OTR/L is an occupational therapist and Manager of Therapy Services at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He received Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2000 from the University of North Dakota, returned in 2007 to receive a Transitional Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. In 2008 he was appointed as an Instructor in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. He returned to school again in 2014 to earn his Doctor of Occupational Therapy Degree with emphasis in Administration and Practice Management at the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. During his career he has provided OT services in school settings, skilled nursing, acute care hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, and chronic pain rehabilitation. In his leadership capacity, he provides regulatory guidance as well as daily staff management, programmatic development and education. He serves as the chair of the disABILITY employee resource group in Arizona supporting diversity and inclusion for patients and staff with disabilities, and is a member of the Leaning in at Mayo Clinic leadership planning committee aimed at promoting leadership opportunities for women. Dr. Yancey also serves on various other committees and workgroups across the Mayo Clinic enterprise supporting its primary value that “The Needs of the Patient come First”. Dr. Yancey is proud to have 4 children who have received education or are currently enrolled at Ridgeline Academy and hopes to bring his experience and knowledge to helping make the education of each student the best it can be.
JASON KLONOSKI, TREASURER
Jason Klonoski is an experienced Board member, having served for nine years on the Board of Ridgeline Academy, as well as having served on the Boards of more than ten other organizations. He has been the founding member of multiple schools in Phoenix, and is well-versed in educational policy and law.
Mr. Klonoski's distinguished career includes four years in Major League Baseball, an Honorary Commander status of Luke Air Force Base, and is the President of Morgan Realty West. He holds a BAS in Finance from the University of Arizona.
KRISTINE BURNETT, SECRETARY
Kristine Burnett currently serves as a Public Relations & Marketing Communications Consultant and Freelance Writer. She has been executing comprehensive public relations and marketing campaigns on both the agency and corporate sides of the industry for nearly two decades. With a passion for writing and a thorough understanding of the power of brand positioning, she has been instrumental in building awareness on behalf of businesses and organizations of virtually every size and scope.
An Arizona native, Burnett earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Arizona State University. She began her public relations career while still in college, serving as a staff writer for Pointe Hilton Resorts, an internationally recognized destination resort chain. She moved to the agency side of the business with a post at MMPR, a boutique firm specializing in hospitality PR and marketing, before landing at EB Lane Marketing Communications, one of the state’s largest advertising firms. There, she began working with an array of state agencies and nationally recognized clients such as the Arizona Department of Health Services on its anti-tobacco initiatives, Arizona Lottery, Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa, and Smith and Wesson Holding Corporation.
Burnett’s talents caught the attention of public relations directors at Banner Health, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit health care systems. Less than 10 years after beginning her career in PR, Burnett was named director of public relations for Banner Health Foundation, a philanthropic resource for Banner Health. Along the way, she launched KMB Public Relations, a PR and marketing communications consulting business representing clients in such industries as health care, education, aviation, automotive, retail, hospitality, homebuilding and the arts.
As an independent public relations and marketing communications consultant and freelance writer, Burnett has worked with such esteemed organizations as Banner Health/Banner Health Foundation, HonorHealth, Sun Health, Arizona State University Foundation, Maricopa Community Colleges/Scottsdale Community College, Cold Stone Creamery, Hansel Auto Group, Peoria Sports Complex, and the City of Peoria. She also collaborates with public relations and marketing communications firms to support their internal teams. In addition, Burnett is a contributing writer for The Arizona Republic/Republic Media Custom Publications.
In September 2015, Burnett was appointed by Governor Ducey and confirmed by the Arizona State Senate as a commissioner for the Arizona State Lottery, representing the marketing and advertising industry. In the role, she was one of five commissioners charged with regulating the Arizona State Lottery, licensing agents, distributing lottery revenues, and setting codes of conducts and penalties for the running of the lottery. Burnett serves as secretary of the board of directors for Ridgeline Academy, Inc., an independent nonprofit K–8 public charter school. She previously served as board president of the predecessor organization, Ridgeline Academy, A Challenge Foundation Academy. She resides in North Phoenix with her husband and two children.
JOHN MAZZA, BOARD MEMBER
John Mazza is Assistant City Manager for Litchfield Park, Arizona. In addition to his Assistant City Manager responsibilities, John is also the Director of Community Services & Recreation, the City Emergency Manager and the Intergovernmental Affairs Manager.
Prior to working for Litchfield Park, he was the Arizona State Director for Railroad and Pipeline Safety.
Prior to his civilian career, John enjoyed a very successful 29 years with the United States Air Force where he had multiple assignments that included four deployments in support of operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
John has received medals for his service including the Bronze Star, the highest of honors for heroic service and the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct.
John retired in September of 2016 after serving twice in the capacity of Command Chief Master Sergeant with the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Base in Dayton, Ohio and his final and most rewarding assignment with the 56th Fighter Wing in Glendale, Arizona. The 56th is proud home to 5000+ Thunderbolts and the largest Fighter Wing in the world.

JOHN RIDDELL, BOARD MEMBER EMERITUS
John Riddell has served as a Ridgeline Academy Board Member since 2016. He holds an MBA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, as well as a BA in History from the same University. He has previously served as a Guidance Counselor, and currently serves as an Admissions Coach. He was on the Board of the Arizona Yacht Club from 2014-2017, and was co-founder of SK1N, a Probiotic Systems company.
John Riddell has spent the last eight years working with students in an academic setting. coaching them from high school into college, helping them identify their true interests and curiosities, then building plans around undergrad and grad school majors and potential careers, in addition to a focus on debt reduction avoidance and reduction to help students graduate with as little debt as possible.
Extending his desire to help our youth grow and launch into successful lives, he has turned to one of his long held hobbies, sailing! As of summer 2018, the Sea Scouts are now back in The Valley of the Sun! Sea Scouts provides continuing learning opportunities for older Scouts, helping the transition from teenager to adult by introducing new life skills, problem solving, and growth experiences for all.
Ridgeline Academy Board of Directors
The Governing Board of Ridgeline Academy meets at the school on the second Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. The Board is charged with establishing and overseeing school policy and the annual budget. They approve the curriculum, school calendar, class schedule and the hiring or dismissal of all staff. The Governing Board is a working board with active sub-committees.
The notice and agenda of the Governing Board meetings are posted 24 hours in advance in the school office. Meetings are open to the public, with the exception of executive sessions, and are held at the school. The minutes of the Governing Board meetings will be available at the school within three business days following the meeting.
