Hello, I’m Michael Merloe. Originally I’m from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the home of Little League Baseball. My wife Brenda and I have lived in the Tramonto and Anthem area for the last twelve years. We have two sons, ages five and two. My oldest is attending Ridgeline this year as a Kindergartener! Yes, another Merloe is joining the Ridgeline family.
Professionally, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching 4th grade since Ridgeline’s inception (six years). Prior to Ridgeline, I taught 5th grade and middle school Social Studies in Arizona. In Pennsylvania, I counseled and taught for the Job Corps program and Red Rock High School, guiding students from ages sixteen to twenty-four towards their career goals. I also worked for years in the wood products industry, managing production and inspecting lumber from the sawmill to the finished product. I’ve always had a passion for counseling, teaching, and coaching. This is one of the major reasons I completed my Master’s program in elementary curriculum development at Arizona State University. Go Sun Devils! My Bachelor’s degree is in History, with emphasis in Philosophy and Sociology from Bucknell University. Throw in a forestry certification from Penn State University and you have it. I’ve also coached and officiated numerous sports including football, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, and track. Of course there’s only one NFL team worth mentioning…the Steelers! My son would argue the Cardinals are the best. Ok, maybe we have spent too much time in Arizona?
